“Bad Influence” argues that separating medical fact from fiction is becoming harder online

인터넷이 발전함에 따라 건강에 대한 정보를 얻기 쉬워졌지만 더 많은 악영향이 존재함

- 1) 인터넷은 아프지 않은 사람도 본인이 아프다고 믿게끔 함
ㄴe.g. ADHD는 어릴 때 진단되는 것이 전형적이나 2020-2023 사이 성인 ADHD 진단이 400% 증가

ㄴ많이 시청된 ADHD 관련 틱톡 비디오 중 50% 미만이 증상을 정확히 반영

- 2) 인터넷이 의료 광고의 무법지대를 만듦

ㄴ규제가 느슨한 지역에서 만든 광고가 전 세계 환자에게 그대로 도달

- 3) 환자가 신뢰할 수 없는 정보를 통해 본인의 증상을 이미 확신하고 오기 때문에 의사가 더 많은 검사를 하며 진단에 시간과 인력을 소모함

 

기사는 Bad Influence가 잘 연구된 책이긴 하지만 digital medicine의 긍정적인 효과나 LLM에 대해서는 지나치게 무관심한 경향이 있으며 너무 당연한 말만 해서 깊고 실질적인 해결책은 주지 못한다고 지적

For every doctor who posts about medicine, there are more life coaches, health podcasters and charlatans who spread quackery: dog dewormer to cure cancer or a coffee enema to “detox” your system.
